I am trying to spruce up my front door to sell my house and the brass strike plate was definitely looking worse for ware. I had to special order a new handle for my storm door, but I thought I’d give it a shot on polishing the old strike plate instead of buying a new one. Worked well. I think at some point there was a protective coating on this, which is why the part that was not exposed to the elements ended up with a spotty polish, but the part that you can see with the door closed, the part that looked the worst, polished up beautifully. Took about 5 minutes and some elbow grease. It has ammonia in it, so follow directions and use in a well ventilated area with some disposable rubber gloves and a cloth you don’t mind throwing away.
I was recommended this product by a local antique dealer who uses this by the tin, it was was fantastic and did exactly what it promised. I used it on an old ESPN tea set and silver spoon set and various other items. They looked wonderful after some not too vigorous rubbing. Would highly recommend it.
