Ok y’all - here you go: I’ve been using this mat for about a week (I missed a day) and I have to say I’ve been raving about it. Let me break it down for you: 1. My over-the-top headaches have been less frequent. Jabout 9 years ago I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and deal with ongoing headaches. Regularly they will become full on migraines - I’m on a daily med but I’ve still had to resort to OTCs. NOT THIS WEEK PEOPLE! I took 2 (count them 2) Excedrin migraines all week. 2. My flexibility has increased dramatically. Another fun part of the Chiari is back problems - but this bad boy seems to be helping. I don’t know how but it’s magic. 3. You lay on this mat for 5 minutes and your body goes all warm. Supposedly it’s because the blood flow is increasing. I say it’s magic. 4. My energy levels have increased and I feel so much calmer during the day. Again, magic.
This Acupressure set is one of the best tools that I have ever used to combat sciatic nerve pain and back pain. At first when it arrived it looked like a torture device due to the thousands of plastic spikes and It did feel really strange to lay on this but then after a few minutes something strange happened. I started to feel really, really relaxed, my back and neck felt warm and I felt the tension in my back dissolve. I called the company to find out the best ways to use this mat and a rep from the company recommended a few ways to use this Acupressure mat effectively. 1) When just starting out use this mat on a couch or bed as it will be more comfortable if you are just starting out with this. Using it on a stiff, hard surface like the floor doesn't provide much soft cushion and the spikes will push into your pressure points and tense areas. I wanted to use this right away on the floor but decided to wait until I have used the mat for a few sessions. Using it on the bed allowed me to watch House of Cards on Netflix and 30 minutes flew by. The second time I used it for over an hour and felt great. Every time I get up off the mat I feel like I am in my teenage years again as my back feels pain free, flexible and mobile. 2) The other way I was recommended to use this was to place it up against a computer chair and sit back against it with your back pressing into the spikes. This removes a large amount of initial tension as gravity is not there to press your back down into the mat. 3) The final recommended way to use the mat I was told is on the floor but only after you have some experience. I jumped onto the floor with my mat in my 4th session. This was intense but in a great way and I felt the best after using it this way however I did not have the luxury of watching tv from the floor so I turned on meditation music, closed my eyes and relaxed on the mat, on the floor for 30 minutes. About 25 minutes into my session I started to feel sleepy so I stopped at the 3
Whenever my back aches, I just lay on this acupressure mat and it goes away. The first time I used it I had a hard time staying still. My back felt so itchy I had to keep moving to break the connection between spikes and skin. I've since found out that it meant I had a lot of tension for the mat to release and that it was working. Each time I laid on it, that sensation was less and less. It wasn't long before I was dozing off as I laid on it. You have to be very careful though, the spikes are SHARP. The first time I laid on it, I tried to reposition and my arm rubbed against the spikes, drawing blood and leaving a scrape that looked like road rash. You have to make sure you always move upward off the spikes and not across them. I've laid on the mat with bare skin and the spikes do NOT break the skin when you're laying on it.
I absolutely LOVE this mat! As an avid runner & yogi my body is always beat up! Plus mom of two small boys who still love to be carried. This is the next best thing to having a built in massage therapist. Must admit I have a strong threshold for pain so I went completely to bear back on the mat. Although you can still feel it working with a light t-shirt on. This mat is the perfect way to end your day. I also use in the morning if my low back is feeling stiff. It really loosen everything up and is extremely helpful with digestion!
Very good product, it really helps my back pain. I using it every day.
I bought this for my husband as a birthday present. He suffers from chronic back pain. It was painful for him at first, but he’s snoring on the mat as I type this. Five stars.
I really Enjoy using my acupressure mat it's a huge stress reliever for me, I usually use it after yoga, and strength training exercises when i feel i need a n extra kick of circulation and release of tension, since I am a full time mother going to the gym spa or an accupuncture specialist is out of the question so this is a huge convenience for me and my husband as well, we originally got this mat for my husbands back pains, he had suffered a back injury in middle school and so it always left him in quite a bit of pain and it was visible in his posture, but after we got the mat he has little to no pain and his posture looks amazing..." NO more hump ;)". we both needed something to help us relax and assist with our circulation and on going pains and this has definitely worked!!!!! I'm so thankfully for this mat as it has improved our overall energy and physical dispostion, I highly recommend this to any one who has back pains or feels as though they may have poor circulation or difficulty breathing when on there back cause this will truly help!!
My GF and I love this thing. It really helps with aches and pains, especially but not limited to the back region. After getting up from the mat after 10 minutes, you feel destressed as well. There may be cheaper substitutes, but you always get what you pay for ;-)
