I suspect the gloves will make my Doctor happy. The knives are well made and pretty to look at, but they know very little about carving. (The roughout blade took advantage of my inattention to take off too much on one side of my very first carving. Sheesh!) I am joking of course. The knives work just as they should.
For My Beginner HusbandMy husband has been into wood working in the winters during the slow times on our farm. He started with some general wood crafts, very basic stuff. He then moved on to exploring pyrography. This interested him in adding more depth & detail to wood so I decided to order this set for him. Having no experience with these tools as this is the first I've ordered & my husband has used, I'm not sure how trustworthy my or my husbands opinion is, but we both think the set is nice. The wood handles are smooth with a comfortable grip & the blades are very sharp. The strip of leather reeks of some horrid chemical smell that is entirely off putting. It needed to off gas for weeks. I have no idea if this is normal or not, but it is by far the worst thing about this product. The fabric roll up storage case is on the thin side, but does the job. The gloves seem average.Overall, for a beginner it has been great.
I am looking for a hobby. This 7 piece set is perfect for beginners like me. I really like that it comes with everything you need to get started including protective gloves. The tools are super sharp and sturdy.
This wood carving tool set looks great and is user friendly. The handle is smooth and easy to grab. The blades are extra sharp and sturdy, and they come with little plastic caps to keep the ends covered during transport. The bag helps to keep it together during storage.
I'm in an historical reenactment group, and I'd like to get into some wood carving. This set is great for a beginner like me. It's got cut resistant gloves which are a huge plus for me. It has 3 wood shaping knives. All of them fit fairly comfortably in my small hands, though a smidge smaller would be nicer for me. It also comes with a piece of leather, which I'm not sure what that is for. No instructions, but there is plenty of tutorials on YouTube to get started. Price is right too.
These Wood Carving Tools seems very well made and have strong metal tips. They have a good feel with sturdy handles, too. There is a whittling knife, a hook carving knife, and a detail carving knife in the kit. The set comes with slice resistant gloves and a polishing strap and wax all with a roll up bag for storing the set in, as well. Its the kind of kit everyone should have in their tool box.
Knives feel sharp. Case and gloves are good. Everything is good and as expected! Great set for the price!
Since I had some time in my hand I thought I would start a new hobby and I always wanted to carve wood. A friend of mine recommended getting a basic tool kit to start. This one is great. It comes with the basic tools you need. It has a safe case to keep the tools in. It also has gloves that prevent nicking your hands. After watching a few videos I tried the tools. The are very easy to hold and manipulate through the wood. Once I got used to them, I really felt comfortable.
